Vernon S. Beechert, a retired Reading businessman, was dead on arrival Nov. 6 at 8:35 a.m. in Reading Hospital.
Beechert, 91, of 728 Schuylkill Ave., was the husband of Doris M. (Drace) Beechert.
He was the owner-operator of Vernon S. Beechert Painting & Decorating Contractor, Reading, for 31 years, retiring in 1981.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Charles C. and Annie T. (Seifrit) Beechert.
Beechert was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Reading, where he was a former consistory member and dart team member.
He was a past officer of the Keystone Pointer & Setter Club. Beechert was a life member of the South End Gun Club. He was a past president of the Reading Chapter of Painting & Decorating Contractors of America.
Beechert is also survived by a daughter, Bonnie M. (Beechert) Goodwin, Reading; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. in St. Mark's UCC. Burial will be private in Epler's Church Cemetery, Bern Township. Bean Funeral Homes Inc., Reading, is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon married Doris Mildred Drace, daughter of Ferdinand S. Drace and Myra L.
