EATON - Edith B. Smith, 86, 407 E. North St., in Ball Hospital Sunday morning. She had been in failing health for several months.
A Delaware County native, she resided in Eaton most of her life. She was the widow of Charles S. who died in 1971. She was a member of the Christian Church, Eaton, the Eaton War Mothers the Women of the Moose, Hartford City.
Survivors include one son, Charles Beecher, Green Bay, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Betty McCleery, Eaton, and Mrs. Murletta Riegel, Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Wright, Eaton, Mrs. Effie Lambiotte, Niles, Mich.; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Pittman-Richman Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Burrett and Rev. Walter Brown officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Friends may call 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.


Edith married Chester Earl Beecher, son of William Peter Beecher and Louella May Creek, on 10 Jul 1909 in , Delaware, IN. The marriage ended in divorce about 1928. (Chester Earl Beecher was born on 25 Dec 1888 in Hartford City, Blackford, IN,19 20 21 died on 18 Jul 1949 in Orlando, Orange, FL 21 and was buried on 22 Jul 1949 in De Pere: Mount Cavalry Cemetery, Brown, WI 21.)
