An Allentown woman, her two small children, and her mother were injured in a traffic accident yesterday morning at Shanesville. State police at Hamburg substation said their automobile was struck by a truck at the Route 22 cutoff in front of Lesher's Hotel. Drivers were identified as Mrs. Betty H. Beicher, 29, wife of Joseph. R. Beicher who is assigned to the Allentown district office of Bell Telephone Co., and Gerald M. Emrich, 20, of Ono, Lebanon County. The Beichers live at 2005 Wehr Ave., Allentown. Mrs. Beicher's mother, Mrs. Mabel Hutchinson, 73, of 123 S. 2nd St., Lebanon, who was sitting in the left rear seat, was thrown onto the highway. She was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, with a possible spine fracture. Thomas Beicher, 22 months old, who was seated alongside of his grandmother, was also hurled to the pavement. He received minor bruises. Mrs. Beicher and another son, Joseph, 5, were slightly injured, according to state police. The trucker was not hurt. Trooper John Hahn said the Allentown woman failed to make a turn leading from old Route 22 onto the new four-lane stretch. When her car shot out off the highway, it was rammed by Emrich's truck and pushed into a steel pole in front of the hotel.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hutchinson, 123 S. Second Ave., are looking back on 50 happy years of marriage today as they celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Tomorrow-night they will be guests of honor at a dinner at the Dutch Diner, Palmyra. Their niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beicher of Camp Hill will be the hosts. The Hutchinsons reared Mrs. Beicher, the former Betty Jane Hutchinson. The Hutchinsons were married in Atlantic City, N.J., where Mrs. Hutchinson was living at that time. She is the former Mabel Dundore, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dundore. Rev. George Spies performed the wedding ceremony. Mr. Hutchinson is a son of the late. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hutchinson. He and his wife are both 72. Now retired, he worked as a car inspector on the Pennsylvania Railroad for 46 years. They are members of the Hebron EUB Church. Mr. Hutchinson also holds membership in the Retired Men's Club, the Eagles, R.M. Club, Odd Fellows and the M.B.A. Railroad organization. Mrs. Hutchinson belongs to the Auxiliary to the Retired Men's Club. Their niece, Mrs. Beicher has three children, Joseph, Thomas and Beth Ann Beicher. Also to be celebrated at the dinner Saturday night will be the birthdays of Mrs. Beicher and Beth Ann, who will be two. Mr. Hutchinson will be recalled by his many longtime friends and associates as an outstanding all-around athlete in his earlier years. He was proficient in swimming, roller skating and ice skating, and presented countless exhibition in these sports for a number of years, but he also attained considerable prominence throughout this entire area as a baseball player. His versatility was demonstrated in that sport, too, as he first won acclaim as a strong-armed pitcher \emdash a right hander \emdash and in later years played the outfield for local area semi-pro teams for some years while distinguishing himself as a robust batter. He first played with an Avon team, but promptly joined the Newmanstown club as its mound ace in 1906 and held forth with the Maroons for several years. He next played with the Lebanon Post Office team managed by the late Chal Morgal to the Lebanon County championship in 1911. It was customary for prominent ballplayers to play with several teams in those days, and during his heyday, the onetime prominent local athlete wore the uniforms of Palmyra, the famed Lebanon Golden Bucks, Richland, the Burns A. C., Lebanon County champions in 1919. His diamond career also included a brief fling with the Tower City team in the Williams Valley League. Early in his baseball career he played with the C and L team made up of Cornwall and Lebanon Railroad employes, and through that association began the long, continuous and creditable period of employment that concluded with his retirement.
