Sudden End of Charles Yeity, Former City Assessor
Charles F. Yeity, a well - known citizen and former city assessor, died suddenly on the porch of the home of Dr. E. M. Bingaman, Hyde Park, at 8.48 o'clock last night. Ten weeks ago he was attacked with heart asthma. Mr. Yeity had called upon Dr. Bingaman with his son Philip for a four days' supply of medicine preparatory to taking a fishing trip, starting today. While in the office he complained of feeling bad. He walked to the porch for air and dropped dead. Mr. Yeity was 61 years of age. He resided at 1105 Spruce street. He conducted a grocery store at Eleventh and Spruce streets for many years. He was treasurer of the Friendship Fire Company for 30 years. He was also a member of the Masons, Knights Templar, Rajah Temple., Camp 89, P. O. S. of A., Mt. Penn Lodge, Odd Fellows and was treasurer of the Veteran Firemen's Assoiation. He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church. Fifteen years ago he was elected City Assessor on the Democratic ticket. He declined a re-election. He was a member of the citizens' committee of the fire department and sustained his first attack while returning home from one of its meetings, 10 weeks ago. There survive these children: William. Mame, Eva, Philip, Stella, Russell and Garnetta. Mr. Yeity was held in high esteem by all who knew him. Undertaker Seidel took charge of the body.
