1. Newspaper: Shippensburg News-Chronicle: Richard Beecher Hand Caught in Wringer, 5 Jun 1936, Shippensburg, Cumberland, PA. 13 Richard Beecher, aged 3, Newville, R. R. 1, suffered bruises when he placed the fingers of his right hand against the rolls of a clothes wringer and the forearm was drawn into the wringer. The accident occured on Monday when Richard was investigating what seemed to him a fascinating new toy. His injuries were treated at the Carlisle Hospital later.

2. Census in 1940 in Newville, Cumberland, PA. 14 The 1940 census recorded two Beecher families as close neighbors on Rural Delivery route 1 in Newville:

John Beecher, widowed, 80, was living with his daughter, Ella Beecher, 46; son Paul, bulldozer operator, 30; daughter Winifred, 10; and son Glenn, 9. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

Samuel Beecher, 34, was living with wife Elizabeth D., 34; Leona, 13; Gerald, 12; Margaret, 9; Richard, 7; Mary, 4; Joan, 1. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. No one had an occupation listed.

Miss Erika Ehmig Is Wed Easter Sunday To Richard Beecher

Miss Erika Ehmig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ehmigh of Heppenheim, Germany, was united in marriage to Richard Beecher, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Beecher of Shippensburg R. R. 1 on Easter Sunday. The double ring ceremony was performed at the bridegroom's home by Rev. Verle Shumacher of Centerville Lutheran church before ferns and forsythia.
The bride wore a power blue street length dress, with navy blue accessories and a corsage of gardenias. She carried a white Bible with satin ribbon.
Miss Margaret Beecher, a sister of the bridegroom, attended as maid of honor. She was attried in a powder blue dress with navy accessories and also wore a corsage of gardenias.
Lee Russell, a cousin of the bridegroom, acted as best man.
A reception followed the ceremony. Refreshments were served to 35 guests.
Mr. Beecher met his bride while serving with the U. S. army in Germany where he was stationed for 32 months. Mrs. Beecher came to the United States in January.
Mr. and Mrs. Beecher will take up housekeeping in their newly furnished house at Brookside.

Nobody was injured in a three car accident on the Walnut Bottom road near Centerville, caused when one car stopped for a tree that was blown across the road, and two other cars piled into the stopped vehicle.
Jame C. McBeth, 65, of Walnut Bottom, stopped for the tree on route 33 Wednesday at 10 p.m. Richard Beecher, Shippensburg R. R. 1, who was following the McBeth car, struck the rear of that auto. Lee Russell, 342 East King st., Shippensburg, then struck the rear of the Beecher auto.
Three months old Richard Beecher Jr. was a passenger in his father's auto, while Donald Russell, 4, and Debra Russell, 3, were passengers in the Russell vehicle. Police said damage was slight in the accident.

Born Tuesday, December 6, 1932 in Hockersville, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Samuel A. and Elizabeth Jane Miller Beecher.

Dick was a member of the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, Carlisle. He was a United States Army Veteran. Dick was the owner/operator of R W Beecher Roofing & Spouting.

Dick was a member of the Hub City Club, Shippensburg, Walnut Bottom Rod & Gun Club, and loved fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anna May Murray Beecher, whom he married April 14, 1991; one son, Richard William "Rick" (wife Brenda) Beecher, Newville; two step sons, Allen E. (wife Terrie) Grace, Newville, and Shane M. (wife Susie) Davis, Falls Church, VA; two granddaughters, Tiffany N. (husband Douglas) Warner, and Christina M. (husband Jason) Zimmerman, all of Shippensburg; one grandson, Matthew R. (wife Tasha) Beecher, Newville; two step granddaughters, C.J. Grace, CA, and Paloma Davis, Falls Church, VA; one step grandson, Adam Grace, York; eight great grandchildren, Jocelyn and Jared Warner, Rylee, Raelin, and Donovan Zimmerman, all of Shippensburg, and Layke, Miles, and Brooks Beecher, all of Newville; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Frengle, Shippensburg, Nancy Carole Bailey, Chambersburg, and Rebecca Lee Gallucci, FL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Erika Schwab Beecher whom passed away February 1, 1990; one brother, Gerald Thomas Beecher; and three sisters, Leona Irene Beecher, Joan Elizabeth Ashburn, and Margaret Iown Widney.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, with Pastor Daniel R. Mikesell, and Pastor Barbara A. Servello officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, in the Church. Military Honors will be held immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, Building Fund, 430 B Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
