2. Census in 1850 in Pitt Twp., Allegheny, PA. 5 James Bugher [ink smeared and can be Bougher], laborer, 36, was living in a boarding house operated by Robert Palmer, brickmaker, 42, and his wife Jane, 47. James was born in Pennsylvania.
[This may not be the correct James, because the age of 36 estimates an 1814 birth, but in 1850 James' wife in the census is living alone with his children, and in 1860 we see James also was away in a boarding house near his work. This is the only record we can find to explain where James was living in 1850.].

[Note: on the previous census page is listed James' son James, also a boiler maker, and also living with several boarders in a tavern.
