1. Obituary: Palladium-Item on 24 Nov 2005 in Richmond, Wayne, IN. 1 RICHMOND, Ind. - John L. Bucher, age 72, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, as a result of complications due to Alzheimer's. He was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Richmond and was a lifelong resident of this community.
John retired after 43 years from Alcoa in 1997. He was a member of the Alcoa 25-Year Club, Alcoa Retiree Club and First Church of the Nazarene. John enjoyed being with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Marilyn (Sorrell) Bucher; his mother, Rhea (Statzer) Berg; four daughters, Vicky (Mark) York, Cambridge City, Rae Jean (Steve) Grimes, Englewood, Ohio, Dea (Tony) Messler, Richmond, Beth (Butch) Evans, Centerville; one son, David (Debby) Crist, Goshen; two brothers, Kenneth (Deannie) Bucher, Haddock, Ga., and Don Bucher, Miamisburg, Ohio; sister, Sarah (Robert) Stemple, New Paris, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Kim, Cindy and Joni Taylor, Renee Mize, Justin and Jeremy Grimes, Amanda Yates, Kara and Melissa Messler, Brent and Brooke Evans, Courtney, Conner and Curstin Crist; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Elmer Berg, and brother, George Bucher.
Funeral services for John L. Bucher will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, with Rev. Ken B. Yingling and Rev. Robert N. Malone officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at the funeral home.
