1. Census in 1850 in East Cocalico Twp., Lancaster, PA. 5 The 1850 census recorded Susannah Ruth, 51, living with daughter Caroline, 20. They were born in Pennsylvania.

2. Census in 1860 in East Cocalico Twp., Lancaster, PA. 6 The 1860 Census recorded John Bicher, age 29, living as a tenant in the household of Susana Ruth, age 63, widow. Living with John are Julian (probably Julia M. but this is how the census taker wrote it down) age 31; Alice, 4; and William, 2. John's occupation is machinery. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Susana's real estate was valued $650 and person estate $620. John's personal estate was $200. The post office was Reamstown.

3. Census in 1870 in Sterling, Whiteside, IL. 7 The 1870 census recorded John Bucher [sic], implement woodwork agent, 40, living with wife Julia, 40; Alice, 14; William, 12; and mother-in-law Susan Ruth, 70. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Sterling, Illinois.

4. Census in 1880 in Sterling, Whiteside, IL. 3 John Beecher, 50, farmer, was living with Juliann, 50; Alice, 21, millener; and Susan Ruth, mother, 80. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

5. Obituary: Semi-Weekly New Era: Obituary of Susan Ruth on 12 Apr 1884 in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA. 1 An Aged Lady. Mrs. Susan Ruth, born Oct. 23, 1796, wife of Jacob Ruth, deceased, was to-day interred in Odd Fellows Cemetery, died April 1. She was married in 1814 to Jacob Ruth, of Lancaster, who died in 1830, leaving a family of seven children. Those living now are Peter Ruth, Mrs. George Mohler, Mrs. Wm. Hess, Mrs. John Beecher, of Sterling, and Mrs. Eberly, of Nebraska. Reuben Ruth, who died a few years ago, was a prominent citizen of Springfield, Ill., and will be remembered by aged citizens of New Holland as a young man that worked in Solomon Weaver's harness shop about 1838, and, who in connection with the three Diller boys of New Holland, and Dr. Wallace, of Blue Ball, started west about 1838 or 1839, settling in Springfield, Illinois. All became prominent men of business.
