Dix Post, No. 135, is a native of the Black Forest, in the darkest part of Germany, and claims direct descent from the original robbers who in ancient times made that locality an undesirable place to visit. Frank has been an inspector in the Customs House for years, and has discovered, he says, that to be successful in business or politics it is necessary to be Irish. So he got out some New Year's cards bearing the following: "Herr francis Patrick Michael McO'Bury, Ein hundred un 80 one St. Yorkville Borough, Greater New-York." He expects now to be promoted, and his ambition does not stop short of the title of Alderman of his district.

Frank has immigrated in 1864. He was employed as a clerk in the custom house.

  Marriage Notes:

The 1880 Census shows Frank married to Veronika with a 5-year old daughter. On 10 Mar 1901 the marriage records for New York City show Frank Bury married Veronica Zink, and these records state that Frank was the son of Ferdinand Bury and Anna Scherer, and Veronica the daughter of Bernhard Zink and Theresia Braun. The 1910 Census shows Frank married for 4 years to a Hannah, and the married column appears to have a 2to indicate it was his second marriage. It appear either Frank and Veronica while living unmarried had a child, or, they were married a second time in 1901.

Frank next married Himena Arlette Carlton, daughter of Asa H. Carlton and Sophia B., on 20 Nov 1880 in Bernardston, Franklin, MA, USA.2 3 (Himena Arlette Carlton was born on 23 Aug 1843 in Leyden, Franklin, MA, USA 3 and died on 12 Feb 1901 in New York, New York, NY.)
